Many chronic symptoms - like eczema, asthma, sinusitis, diabetes, and more are in fact related to our food intake and immune system.

- Why are some people more likely to suffer from them?

- How can we prevent these diseases from appear, or lower their impact on our daily lives?

Little research is being done in that field.

We would we very happy to meet you, discuss our mission, and see how we can together help research for a better immune system.

During this interactive session, Prof. Diana Derval, chair of the board of directors of the foundation, will present the current research on taste and diabetes being conducted jointly with OLVG hospital in Amsterdam.

A "borrel" will give us the opportunity to brainstorm and design action plans in a friendly atmosphere.

Eczema, Asthma, Hayfever, Sinusitis, and Food Allergy

[Facts] In Europe, 80 million people are allergic. In certain areas of African, Asia, and America, for instance, more than 90% of the population is intolerant to lactose. Worldwide, 300 million people are suffering from asthma. In Finland for instance, 9% of the adults are asthmatic, 15 to 20% have eczema, and 30% have an allergic flu. In the USA, 4% of the overall population and 6% of the children are asthmatic, 4% (12 million people) suffer from food allergy and 11% (37 million people) from allergic sinusitis.

[Symptoms] Common symptoms for food allergy are nausea, cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea, difficulty breathing/asthma, itching, eczema, frequent colds, bronchitis, sinusitis, ear infections, sneezing, red eyes, dizziness, headaches. A food allergy might start as an eczema and turn into an asthma, a hayfever or a sinusitis after a couple of years, or even an acne. The food allergy rarely ‘disappears’, it mutates.

Diabetes Mellitus (type 1), Gastrointestinal Symptoms and Anemia

[Facts] 25 million people are suffering from diabetes mellitus. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for instance, 20% of the population is concerned.

[Symptoms] Symptoms of diabetes mellitus are: frequent urination, unusual thirst, extreme hunger, unusual weight loss, extreme fatigue and irritability. Gastrointestinal symptoms or signs of anemia might be caused by a coeliac disease.

Sugar-addiction, Fungus, and Immune System

[Facts] 25 million people are overeating. In South Africa for instance, 64% of the black population and 50% of the white population are overweight.

[Symptoms] Symptoms of sugar-addiction are: hypoglycemia, extreme hunger, extreme fatigue, irritability, food cravings. Sugar-addicts would go out at night to buy sweet foods and drinks, or make sure there is always a sufficient stock. Fungus (yeast infection or candidiasis) can be located in skin or mucosal membranes, including the thrush, the pharynx or esophagus, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary bladder, the vagina, or the penis, and it results in redness, itching, discomfort, and burning.

Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), Iron-Absorption, and Coeliac Disease

[Facts] 12 million people are suffering from the The Restless Leg Syndrom. In the USA, 10% of the population is concerned.

[Symptoms] The Restless Leg Syndrom (RLS) is a neurological disorder that results in an agitated sleep, with the urge to move the legs.

Anemia, Iron Absorption, and Coeliac Disease

[Facts] In Nigeria, more than half of the children and 61% of the menstruating women are anemic because they have issues fixing iron. In the Philippines, 32% of the menstruating women are concerned.

[Symptoms] Headaches, chest pain, cognitive difficulties, lethargy, irregular or speedy heartbeat, coldness or numbness in feet and hands, shortness of breath, dizziness and pale skin.

Depression, Money, and Allergy to Nickel

[Facts] In Europe, 15% of women and 1,5% of men are allergic to Nickel and the percentage is increasing.

[Symptoms] Fever without temperature, digestion problems, headache, itching scalp, eczema on ears, hair loss, chronic tiredness, and depression.
